Finding a notaire
Every sale in France is completed before a notaire. A buyer may appoint their own notaire alongside the seller's.
| Directory | What it offers | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Annuaire officiel, Notaires de France | National directory; search by name, town or postcode with a filter for languages spoken | notaires.fr |
| Notaires Région Sud | Directory of the regional council of notaires of the Cour d'appel d'Aix-en-Provence, covering offices in the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var; search by town, postcode or language | cr-aixenprovence.notaires.fr |
Our page on buying explains the notaire's role in the purchase.
Sworn translators
French authorities may ask for an official translation of a foreign document, such as a civil status record or a diploma. Such translations are made by translators registered as judicial experts with a cour d'appel, often called sworn translators. The Cour d'appel d'Aix-en-Provence, whose area includes the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var, publishes its list of judicial experts each year on its page at cours-appel.justice.fr. Check that the translator is registered for written translation in the language you need.

Nice Côte d'Azur airport
The airport serving this coast has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, with shuttles linking the terminals and car parks. Flight information, terminals and transport links are on nice.aeroport.fr. Our guide to getting here covers routes and drive times to each area.
CCI Nice Côte d'Azur
The Chambre de commerce et d'industrie Nice Côte d'Azur issues the carte professionnelle that estate agents in the Alpes-Maritimes need to practise. It is at 20 boulevard Carabacel, 06000 Nice (telephone +33 4 93 13 73 00) and online at cote-azur.cci.fr.
To check any agent's card, use the national register of property professionals kept by the CCI network on cci.fr. You can search by card number, postcode or name.
Tax office for non-residents
The Service des impôts des particuliers non-résidents (SIPNR) handles the income tax and the IFI of non-residents with French-source income or French property.
| Office | Address | Telephone |
|---|---|---|
| SIPNR | 10 rue du Centre, TSA 10010, 93465 Noisy-le-Grand Cedex | +33 1 72 95 20 42 |
Local taxes on a property, such as the taxe foncière, are paid to the tax office where the property is located, not to the SIPNR. Our guide to French property taxes explains which taxes apply.
